June 2015 Cultural Activity: Tennessee Pizza Parties

June 27, 2016

Cultural Exchange is the cornerstone of our J-1 program. We plan for at least 2 cultural activities a month, which means we have thousands of participants across the United States experiencing local culture. Cultural activities increase in the participant’s emotional ties to the community they’re living and working in, strengthens the relationships with their colleagues, and introduces Americans to invaluable experiences from the participant’s home culture.

On June 23, Spirit Cultural Exchange offered a Pizza Party for 9 participants from Jamaica and China working in the Pigeon Forge area. In addition to the participants in attendance, 1 American manager also attended. On June 24, Spirit Cultural Exchange offered a Pizza Party for 9 participants from Jamaica and Moldova working in the Gatlinburg area. At both Pizza Parties, participants had the opportunity to meet other Work and Travel participants in the area and discuss their programs. While enjoying pizza, Spirit staff was able to discuss issues, cultural activities and participant travel plans.
