May 2014 Cultural Activity: Arches National Park and Volunteer Activity

July 14, 2016

Cultural Exchange is the cornerstone of our J-1 program. We plan for at least 2 cultural activities a month, which means we have thousands of participants across the United States experiencing local culture. Cultural activities increase in the participant’s emotional ties to the community they’re living and working in, strengthens the relationships with their colleagues, and introduces Americans to invaluable experiences from the participant’s home culture.

On May 28, 2014, a group of Spirit J-1 participants in the Moab, Utah area spent the day in Arches National Park. The participants did some hiking and sightseeing around the park, visiting the park's most famous site, Delicate Arch. They had lunch together near Delicate Arch. The participants also completed a volunteer activity in the park, where they pulled weeds, picked up trash, and moved logs and other debris from the path. The students enjoyed visiting the park and being able to volunteer at this beautiful location!
