Last August, Spirit Cultural Exchange representative Kelli had the opportunity to travel to experience Summer Work and Travel in Door County Wisconsin by visiting long-time Host Employers and connecting with Summer Work and Travel participants in person. These site visits are always a highlight, offering a chance to hear Work and Travel participants’ experiences, and celebrate the community that supports our participants throughout the summer.
One of the highlights of the trip was attending a Community Support Group (CSG) event. The Door County CSG does an incredible job creating welcoming, engaging events for participants, and this evening was no exception. Kelli enjoyed spending time getting to know the dedicated CSG volunteers who work behind the scenes to bring Summer Work and Travel in Door County Wisconsin to life.
Participants and guests enjoyed friendly volleyball and basketball games, relaxed together by the bonfire making s’mores, and even had the chance to ride Segways set up on the lawn. With delicious BBQ and desserts provided, there was plenty of opportunity for everyone to unwind, share stories, and connect with one another.
Throughout the evening, Kelli had the opportunity to chat about Summer Work and Travel in Door County Wisconsin with participants as they shared about their jobs, their summer experiences, and what they’ve enjoyed most about living and working in Door County.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Community Support Group for Summer Work and Travel in Door County Wisconsin for organizing such a memorable event and for their continued support of our participants. Visits like this are a wonderful reminder of how impactful community involvement can be and how meaningful these experiences are for everyone involved.
