Soccer with the Chicago Stars

Spirit Cultural Exchange staff, J-1 Teachers, and their families recently enjoyed a memorable day of soccer with the Chicago Stars. The theme of the match was International Day, which honored the diverse home countries of the Chicago Stars players. Before kickoff, Spirit’s J-1 Teachers, their families, and the children of Spirit Cultural Exchange staff members were invited onto the field to participate in a special pre-game ceremony. Carrying the flags representing the players’ home countries, they proudly formed a tunnel as the players walked onto the field, creating a meaningful welcome that celebrated international friendship and cultural exchange.

With perfect weather, attendees enjoyed stunning views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline from Northwestern University’s lakefront stadium. The day provided a wonderful opportunity for J-1 Teachers, staff, and their families to connect, celebrate diversity, and build community. It also served as a reminder of the meaningful connections and cultural understanding fostered through international exchange programs.

“My family and I had the opportunity to attend the Chicago Stars soccer game, and it was an unforgettable experience from beginning to end.” – Katherine, International Teacher from Peru

It was a fantastic day filled with soccer and cultural celebration. Go Stars!
